The president of the Agir Ensemble association moderated on June 19, 2025 in Tirana, Albania, a strategic debate on diversity management in intercultural cities in the Euro-Mediterranean area in the MEDForum on the occasion of the celebration of Tirana as European Capital of Culture. This session discussed the various challenges related to the management of cultural diversity in the Mediterranean region from a common Euro-Mediterranean vision based on cohesion, dialogue and the valorisation of cultural heritage for a future that goes beyond crises and integration difficulties. It also proposed the adoption of innovative cultural policies to address the crisis of confidence within culturally diverse societies, considering culture as a wealth (sustainable transport heritage) and value creator (cultural industries), in addition to considering it as a tool for reconciliation between plural identities. This session is based on the Tangier Declaration on Cultural Diplomacy in the Mediterranean as a starting point for the discussion, which aims to attract various civil actors, experts and academics to interact and reflect together on the future of the Mediterranean and the mechanisms capable of consolidating the values of participatory dialogue and cultural diversity management by proposing renewed and innovative cultural policies through a multilateral approach in which participants exchange knowledge and good practices to build a common vision on the role of cultural diplomacy in the formulation of international policies for the management of cultural diversity in intercultural cities.
